Commentary: Newhaven Town, UK, a small town has recently accepted to honor a controversial historical figure Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh
is being honored by his communist followers as the father of the
nation, whereas more than 4.5 million Vietnamese had left Vietnam in
search of freedom after the Fall of Saigon in 1975 and other 90 million
Vietnamese are still living under the brutal and oppressive regime of
communists.
More than 4 million Vietnamese were deceived into sacrificing their lives for a greater cause or ideals of “Independence-Freedom-Happiness” during the 2 wars against the French and Americans. It is tragic the basic of human rights under the communist regime is far worse than during the French colonialist rule.
It is a mistake and offensive that a city in the UK approved to honor a man that was listed among the 13 worse butchers in 20th century by the Polish newspaper Polska on March 5, 2013. It is immoral to honor one of the worst butchers of the 20th century.
A petition calling on the Newhaven Town Council : Please Stop The Blood-Red Hands of Ho Chi Minh’s honor that organized by city council, which was sponsored by a Vietnamese-Australian author Hoa Minh Truong.
The following is the news from the city of Newhaven:
The Vietnamese Ambassador, His
Excellency Mr Vu Quang Minh, visited Newhaven on Sunday 19th May to
celebrate the 123rd birthday of Ho Chi Minh, and the great leader’s
links with the town. As a young man, Ho Chi Minh worked for a while as a
pastry chef on the Newhaven-Dieppe ferry.
To mark the historic link, the Ambassador presented a bronze statue of Ho Chi Minh and two framed photographs
to Newhaven Museum. The Ambassador also visited West Quay, where he
unveiled a banner recently placed there by the Town Council and a
special foundation stone commemorating the arrival of Ho Chi Minh in Britain in 1913.
Following
this a reception was held in Meeching Hall, where guests enjoyed
Vietnamese food and entertainment. Guests at the reception included the
High Sheriff of East Sussex, Norman Baker MP and Annie Lorys, the
President of the Newhaven Chamber of Commerce. The
Mayor of Newhaven presented the Ambassador with a framed photograph of
the port in 1910 and some silver cufflinks made by local
seventh-generation goldsmith Mike Shorer. Mr Tony Helyar, Curator of Newhaven Museum presented the Ambassador with a framed photograph of the ferry on which Ho Chi Minh once worked.
The Mayor of Newhaven, Councillor Julie Carr said “This
lovely, enjoyable event marked the beginning of what we hope will be a
long and fruitful friendship between Newhaven and Vietnam, resulting in
exciting business, tourism, educational and cultural opportunities for the town. This could significantly contribute to the regeneration of Newhaven”.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I just discovered your city honored Ho Chi Minh, I know that is terrible mistake, so I write some information about Ho Chi Minh
who founded the Vietnam communist party on February 3, 1930. His
organization has been considered as an early terrorist group in the
world.
- Recently the Poland newspaper Polska, published on March 5, 2013, they listed Ho Chi Minh being among the 13 most massive killers in 20th century.
- Ho Chi Minh killed more than 1,700,000 people into the multiple bloodshed campaigns were such as the landlord campaign, Tet offensive at Hue and so many crimes in Vietnam.
- Indeed Ho Chi Minh has been condemning by the most Vietnamese people, they are the victim family or the sufferers being faced the consequence of his crazy idea brought the communist theory to apply into Vietnam since 1930.His legacy is the Vietnam people who have been losing the freedom and regime always abuses the human rights to its people.
Mr. Osama Bin Laden, an Al Qaeda leader,
he killed about 3,900 people in US on September 11, 2001, he was
condemned by the world, then there is no place to set up the statue
honors Osama Bin Laden. However, Ho Chi
Minh killed more than 1,700,000 people but the Newhaven city set up the
statue to honor him, it is the terrible mistake, that would be harmed
the city council and the city’s prestige. How could the city council honor by setting up statue for a serious criminal Ho Chi Minh, his crime opposes against the humanity?
Ho Chi Minh has at least 6 birthdays, I wrote in my book “The dark journey: inside the reeducation camps of Vietcong” published in New York 2010, the details being there. My books revealed the untold stories about Ho Chi Minh’s real face: how many wives he had? Ho raped a teenager names Tuyet Lan at Thailand in 1929, he live with many women from Russia, China, Vietnam and even though he had sex with many mountain girls…A worse dignity man likes
him, but city council sets up Ho Chi Minh’s statue to honor, that
couldn’t suitable and opposes against the moral value of a city in the
democratic country. Ho Chi Minh had 6 birthdays, so for what is
his genuine birthday?. Likely your city honors a man on his birthday,
but you don’t know when he was born, how do you think?
On the other hand, the city of Newhaven
made the terrible mistake, probably the council has been misled by
someone, they should be Vietcong espionage agent in England, while the most Vietnamese refugee in the world loath Ho Chi Minh as the nationally l serious criminal, he was the massive massacre, but the city honors him by statue…
As the Vietnamese refugee, an author, I
would like to alert the council of Newhaven city, you make the critical
mistake, while the world recognize the real face of Ho Chi Minh, there was many document released after Soviet Union collapsed, but your city honors him.
I propose the city council may remove Ho
Chi Minh’s statue as soon as possible, it is not too later to fix the
problem. There is no body perfect, but the people welcome to who
recognize the wrong and do it better.
